Our product strategy is oriented on production of competitive goods with focus on export development and import substitution.

Polypropylene is a basic product used for several consumer goods in a wide variety of applications, such as packaging, textiles, stationery, automotive components, electronic and electrical appliances, and several other uses. Polypropylene is a so called ecological plastic which can be fully used for food packaging and medical industry.

High density polyethylene, which SOCAR Polymer intends to produce, can be used as feedstock for variety of products, right up to production of high pressure gas, sewage and water pipes.

At present Azerbaijan exports low-density polyethylene since it is not in high demand on the local market and at the same time imports a high-density polyethylene and polypropylene.

By implementing the project SOCAR Polymer actually paves the way to the import substitution by building this new plant for Polypropylene and High Density Polyethylene. In fact, SOCAR Polymer is going to process local raw material into final products that are in demand here in Azerbaijan. It is expected that the local market will account for about 30% of the total production of the plant that, in according to the marketing research, will satisfy local demand in full. At the same time, 70% of products is expected to be exported to the markets of Europe and Turkey.

The maximum project capacity of polypropyl­ene and high density polyethylene plants totals to 180,000 tones and 120,000 tones, re­spectively.

There is a certain cluster of companies, known as licensers and holders of patents for technologies which are constantly developed. Lyondell Basell and Ineos are licensers of SOCAR Polymer for polypropylene and high density polyethylene, respectively. Through this cooperation SOCAR Polymer intends to produce products of highest international standards.
